That seems to sum me up pretty well.  Overdue.   Library books. Movies.  Returned emails.  Trips to the grocery store.  Blog posts.  Baby news.  Phone calls.  They're all overdue.  {Thank goodness for bill pay on our bank's website or the bills would be overdue too! Ha!}

What can I say...I work best under pressure.
I'm really sorry for the lack of new baby updates.  I've had lots of questions about how we're doing because wow, I don't seem to get around to posting much about the new little peanut on here!  To be completely honest, the time has flown by so quickly that it's just crazy!  It's definitely different being pregnant the second time around!!

I am finally able to go all day without a nap. :)  It was pretty sad there for a while.  I would beg Derrick to be ready to take his nap because I thought I was going to fall over if I wasn't able to go to sleep soon!  Every single day I needed to nap, no matter how much sleep I had gotten the night before.  I think I reverted back to my own two year old ways for about ten weeks.  It was not good!  Needless to say, me sleeping during naptime only intensified that "overdue-ness" that is me.

Anyway, the little peanut (who is actually the size of an avacado this week) seems to be doing well.  I went to the doctor last Wednesday and it was one of those non-eventful visits, which is very welcomed by us!  I really thought about begging for an ultrasound simply to find out if we could go out and buy something super girly or add to our collection of blue, but I didn't.  I really wanted to though!  I think I probably could have gotten away with it.  The doctors always say, "I'm sure you're ready for that ultrasound."  I think they're ready to know too.  Not what the baby is, but how it is.

I'm trying not to let the how get in the forefront of my mind.  I'm trusting that this baby is exactly what and who God has planned for us to love.  That much we are guaranteed, and I'm ok with that.  We're focusing on getting names finalized and nursery plans made so that on January 6th we can go buy paint!  And just for fun, I've added a poll on the sidebar so you can make your guess about whether D will have a little brother or a little sister. :)

On to more overdue business...I need your help!
Hope for BraveHEARTS is partnering with Ethin's Heart Still Beats to publish a cookbook.  We are super excited about this new project, but it definitely can't happen without your support.  Our goal is to have the cookbooks ready to be delivered during CHD Awareness Week, which is February 7-14th.  They will be available to pre-order very soon so I'll keep you posted on those details.

Right now, I need your favorite recipes!  We would love to have the favorite, tried-and-true recipes from your recipe stash.  If your family has a favorite recipe, will you send it in for the cookbook?!  Please!!?  You can email it to me at carolinacarters@gmail.com.  Proceeds from the cookbooks that Hope for BraveHEARTS sells will go towards CHD research and to help fund BraveHEART Baskets.  We'll take recipes for the next two weeks...so get busy! :)

Now, I'm going to check my email because I know it's full of your favorite recipes! :)

And because you're overdue for a picture and just because I think this is the most adorable little face...

  1. I'll try to get you a few recipes Shannon for your cookbook project!

    Love the pic of D and I am so glad that your little peanut is doing well!

  2. I'm not a very good cook, but I'll send you over something today for a recipe. :) I'm glad everything is going so well. Don't worry about being overdue- you're one BUSY lady!! And those pregnancy naps? Nothing beats them. :)

  3. Oh my word, He is SO CUTE!!! I swear, he is one of the cutest kids I have ever seen! Will try to send you my recipe today or tomorrow. :-)

  4. "I'm trying not to let the how get in the forefront of my mind. I'm trusting that this baby is exactly what and who God has planned for us to love. That much we are guaranteed, and I'm ok with that." I LOVE THAT! So true that each of these babies - heart healthy or not - are exactly what and who God chose for us and our families. So comforting to hear that. Thank you for sharing your feelings - you are awesome. :) I will send you a recipe soon. Just looked at the Brave Hearts website - how cool! Also, you find out the sex of your little peanut the same day that Field has his Glenn! I am happy that there will be exciting news on a dreary day for us. I look forward to hearing about that sweet little peanut. Take all the naps you want! :)
